Exploring Memories and Moments

On the occasion of International Microorganism Day, the Department of Biotechnology, Maulana Azad College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Aurangabad, in association with the Microbiologists Society, India, organized a Fermented Food Festival on 16th September 2025. The event began at 11:30 AM in the Seminar Hall and continued with engaging sessions till 1:00 PM. The festival aimed to celebrate the crucial role of microorganisms in food, health, and culture, highlighting the fascinating science and tradition behind diverse fermented foods. The program was presided over by Dr. Mazahar Ahmed Farooqui, Principal of Maulana Azad College. Prof. Dr. Swati Peshwe, Department of Microbiology, Government Institute of Science, Aurangabad, graced the event as Chief Guest and Judge, and also conducted the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the food festival competitions. A special highlight of the event was the welcome of B.Sc. Biotechnology First Year students, who were greeted warmly with roses as a gesture of encouragement and inclusion. The festival was convened by Dr. Reshma Jaweria (HOD, Department of Biotechnology) with the support of Dr. Aditi Bhattacharya (IQAC Coordinator), Dr. Arif Pathan (Vice Principal), and the dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff of the Biotechnology Department. This celebration not only showcased a wide variety of traditional and modern fermented food items but also emphasized their nutritional and probiotic value. It proved to be a unique blend of science, culture, and taste, fostering awareness about the beneficial roles of microbes in daily life.
